Everything, pretty much. Littering along the sides of roads, pulluting the air by burning certain things, big factories with their smoke stacks, polluting lakes, rivers, and streams with garbage and waste materials, using too much gas and oil, oil spills, you name it. I read in an article in the May/June edition of Paddler Magazine that the Clackamas River is very heavily littered. There is a place called “Beer Can Island” where there are literally thousands of beer cans along the bottom of the river; one clean-up diver said that they were up to his chest when he stood up on the bottom of the river. In 2006, they cleaned up 7,580 pounds of litter from a 12 mile stretch of the Clackamas River. They found cigarette butts, cans, and couches as a few examples. (all of this is an example.)

Many people don’t realize that it takes 5 years for cigarette butts to naturaly decompose; 45 years for leather shoes; 200 to 500 years for aluminum cans; and 1 million years for styrofoam. Not to mention the fact that bottled water is causing a lot of problems. They are found more than any other bottle littering the environment. So people really do need to think before throwing things out, and think of the animals.

Dumping waste from trains, ships and airplanes. Using landfills instead of destroying the waste. Dumping toxic waste everywhere. Storing nuclear waste at sites all over Nevada. Not controlling gas emissions and factory/industrial emissions. Treating the seas/oceans as huge free garbage dumps.

Using freon and other harmful gases.

At Walt Disney World they have one central garbage collection place where the garbage from all the hotels, restaurants, etc gets sent and then it is all microwaved and there is no waste landfill or toxicity being released into the environment. We need to replicate this system in all our cities around the USA.

Wow! have you stepped outside lately? lol..well atleast depending where you live. hopefully not in the artic circle..jp! well its all dependant on what makes our economy stablelized. manufacutes produce so much pollution which releases harmful chemicals into our atmosphere which destroy our green house gases. Same as what we feed our stock which so unintentionaly release nitrogen and methane in our earth which also messes with the chemical imbalance of our “natural” gases. the more we come industrious the more polluted our air gets which messes with , like i say, the gases. This is why we are going through weird weather because more heat is being trapped in earth. This extreme heat is causing icecaps to melt …leading up to the overflow of our rivers….not to mention the extreme heat….(must i reiterate) ..well hope this helps ! good luck!

It’s the wealthy and celebrity types only that can consume vast amounts of recourses. Al Gore flies around the country telling the poor and middle class people they will have to conserve. Al Gore’s core message is, “You are an American, and everything is your fault.”

People continue to support celebrities who preach about the environment while the same celeb rites take their private jets to each event. Pathetic. And to all those Greenies on the Internet right now, uh…your wasting electricity.

Depends on who you ask but I think the worst thing that I think is the dumping of toxic substances in the ground and garbage & sewage in the ocean.
