A lack of parenting. Not video games, not computers, not social events, not TV,etc…, but simply a lack of parenting. Train a parent and save a child.

Homeschooling. The rate has risen from less than 1% in 1970 to over 20% today and with crime, drugs, sex, violence and poor education in a lot (not all) public schools it is projected that 35% or more students will be homeschooled by 2050.

Plus College, legitimate colleges, have started homeschooling program (called Distance Education).

On the plus side, overcroweded classrooms will dwindle in size and we’ll return to the potential of the 1950s when 60% or more succeed in public schools (right now it’s 10-20%) and your dismall failure rate will drop to 20% (right now it’s 40%) and those are your bullies, your “sweat hogs” your detension students.

The Public School system got hit by Baby Boomers, voters who failed to pass building issues on the ballots and forced bi-lingual education.

Teachers were faced with a room full of belligerant cattle who were prone to stampeeding and this consumes too much of the classroom time trying to get it under control.

Too many babies and a desire not to raise taxes or debt, plus the lack of discipline are all factors in the demise of Public Education.

Homeschooling will become the savior of the Public System since the voters won’t act to make the system better.

On the downside most of the homeschoolers are the top peformers. So the schools will be left with the average, a few tops and a bunch of rotten apples. But at least we’ll get back to 30 kids in a room or less.

Good question. Nothing that i am presently aware of…

Seems to me that many parents aren’t spending enough time with their children. Just try suggesting (to a parent) that their child could use some additional time @ home reading, or being read to, talked to, practicing “take away” or – + x math facts & you’ll hear THAT’S THE SCHOOL’S JOB!

And learning about natural body functions, correct names for body parts, sex, relationships, & birth control… that doesn’t seem to be a parent’s job either! Check out the questions being asked on Yahoo Answers! Why aren’t these personal questions being directed to parents rather than strangers?

I’d like to know WHAT will replace schools for educating

future workers if today’s & tomorrows’ parents don’t step up.
