It’s a newer, retooled form of creationism.

Basically, we are not sure how the universe started and there are many things that science cannot explain, so it must be some sort of an intelligent force, which we will call “God”, that made everything happen.

To answer your question, if they want to taech metaphysics, that should be in a philosophy class, but nowhere near science texts.

Intelligent design is a phrase that is a politically correct way of saying “God created the world” Many people believe in this and they would like it presented as an alternate theory to evolution, which by the way is also a theory. It’s a way of introducing this belief without actually asserting that it is true.

“intelligent design” is the belief that God created man in his vision, with an idea in mind and not that we evolved from any animal, he molded us out of clay. I think that it belongs in the textbooks of schools connected to a church, but not necessarily in public schools, because people have freedom of religion or no religion at all, and you shouldn’t have to be taught what you don’t believe, but i think that it is a good idea to learn about the different ways that people believe life came about, because then people aren’t ignorant about the beliefs of others. With ignorance can come dislike and misunderstanding, and even hate sometimes, because their are those people that fear what they don’t understand. But parents should have the option to have their child either taught intelligent design or not. It shouldn’t be forced upon them.
