A valedictorian means the highest class rank. Many do receive scholarships, some do not. I have even heard of some valedictorians not going to college.

Different schools have different ability levels of their students and different standards for grading. A 3.5 GPA in one school may be equal to a 3.0 in another school or a 3.9 in a third school.

No you are not guaranteed a full scholarship.

I would expect the average grades to be near perfect. My school had 4.0’s for valedictorians for a while now.

Our SAT scores widely varied however. shows how arbitrary some teachers are in grading since we have no consistent performance on a nationwide standard.

A highschool valedictorian is granted a full scholarship covering only the first year in college.
