Tutoring kids over the summer?

Hi, I was wondering if you people can help me with a making-money problem. You see, over the summer I would like to tutor kids in any subject they need help in, but since I am only going into 7th I tutor kids ranging from 2nd-going into 7th. But what my problem is is that will kids really want to get the skills better during the summer, will I even make any money?

The kids may not, but the parents will! And the ages of which you speak, well the kids are still under the control of the parents.

You very well may be able to. I tutored in my parents’ classrooms when I was your age and had a blast doing it. You might put the word out at the library (summer reading programs have a habit of drawing parents and kids there) and see if you get any takers.

At the elementary age, summer is usually when all the skills go straight out of the kids’ heads…hence the 3-4 weeks of straight review each fall. I don’t know what area you live in, but I’d bet there are some parents who would love for their kids to get some one-on-one attention academically over the summer – and to have their kids spend time with a responsible student your age that they can look up to.

Good luck!
