Trying to drop an AP class?

I am currently trying to drop an AP class and the school is giving me a very hard time with it. I did request this class last spring but a lot of things have happened and i really need to drop it so i can free up time to do volunteer work. I already spoke to the vice principal with my mom and he didnt budge in letting me drop it so the next step is the principal. When i had first spoke to the counselor she had mentioned something about funding and i couldnt drop it and the asst. principal said the reason was because classes were full. Im pretty sure if i was a new student or transfering from another school they wouldnt have a problem with me going into the class i want. Anyone else ever have this problem and how should i handle this?

If it’s an AP class, there shouldn’t be any pressure to force you to have it. They should let you have a regular class. If taking it up with the principal does not work, make your parents schedule a meeting, but before that have your case prepared. If you have a great argument, it shouldn’t be a problem. Tell them why you need the time and why you can no longer handle the course. What was it that changed your mind?

Good Luck.

Did you sign anything that said that you couldn’t drop the class?

At my school, once you signed one of the AP forms, you couldn’t drop the class.
