Tiers and sets?for science english and maths.?
when do they decide tiers higher and foundation for science english and maths, and if you got level 5 in your ks3 exams what set would you expect to bee in?

For us, maths was decided in y7. Sets 1 and some of 2 did higher. Rest of 2 and 3 did intermediate, and sets 4 and 5 did foundation. Although if you’d improved before y10, you got moved up. Mostly, people who achieved Levels 7 and 8 did higher.
In our school we didn’t get placed in ability sets in English.
For Science, top-end levels 7 and 8 did triple-award award. Most did dual award and the low-performers did single-award.
So therefore, I think it depends on each school.
Level 5? I’d say Dual-Award for Science, and Foundation tier for English and either Foundation/Intermediate tier for Maths.
