I’m wondering if anyone else is/has felt the same in 11th grade…?

Ok. I’m going into 11th grade, and I keep reading on here in the Answers about people who are also going into 11th grade that they are in AP classes. What I’m getting at is at my school, it’s nearly impossible to be in a AP class in your 11th grade year. In order for that you serioulsy have to have a meeting with teachers, and your previous grades in that subject has to be crazy good. So, is/were AP classes more popular taking in the senior then the junior year for anyone? Because I feel it’s so odd and frustrating that I feel I go to a school that almosts dumbs us down… We don’t even have any Algebra classes like Colleges want to see; we have Intergrated 1, 2, 3, and then Precalcus, Calc, and then AP Calc.

Is my school normal? Or is it patheic like I keep thinking it is??

Thank you :]

My school tries to put everyone in AP classes. I was in 11th grade last year and I didn’t take any because I didn’t want to, I was trying to raise my GPA so I stuck with honors & standard. But this year I’ll be taking 3 APs just to show colleges that I can handle a heavy courseload. My counselors try to force everyone into at least one AP class even if you’ve got awful grades just because they’re trying to make the school look better and say that they have a huge percentage of AP students. (I signed up for Latin 4 and got put into AP Latin!) It’s this new rule that started last year from our new superintendent, and actually most kids failed their APs. But your school does sound very odd. You should really try to squeeze yourself into at least one AP no matter what it takes because colleges want to see you can handle harder work.
