There is no easy answer to your question. Finishing one particular language is best regardless of the one selected. The difficultly factor should not matter. Both Languages have a similar approach in how they are taught since the are romance languages. Ask your counselor is you have any electives available for senior year or if there is an accelerated program in the summer coming up you can finish Spanish to complete your school requirement and take French which is obviously your passion.

Consider this knowing three languages is certainly better than two so exposure to the third would not be detrimental at all. Your choice of careers is not affected by the language choice. If you have several plans it will be easier to provide your parents and yourself with a clear picture of what to expect. Additionally colleges will be impressed with the fact that you took on an additional language especially as an enrichment it sets you apart from other candidates.

If I were you I’d take the French, you like it better and you have more chance of reading scholarly articles in French in college than in Spanish. Although Spanish is a truly great language and really practical. But if I were you I’d take French.

I would suggest taking French. Obivously Spanish teachers are going to tell you to take Spanish but French is something that you said your self something you love.

Spanish can’t be all that useful. The number one language that’s the official one is English, but French came second.

As a Spanish speaker (and teacher of English), from my personal experience I would highly recommend you to take Spanish. Why? Because it is one of the most difficult languages to learn (because of the many conjugations of verbs) and if you have a good teacher, you’ll learn it. And you always have the possibility of studying French on your own. I’ve been told it’s much easier than Spanish!

In all, I would go for Spanish and then, do some kind of extra course on French 🙂

So turn your application in as soon as you can. That way you are #103 out of 50,000.
