Public school or private school?

I am currently in the 10th grade and I go to a private school me and my parents are currently considering sending me to public school for a magnet program or just public school in general. My current school’s education is pretty good but a magnet program or public school would expose me to so much more.Need advice on which one to choose

Research demonstrates that one of the most important contributing factors that leads to the success of students is parental involvement and support. I know I am generalizing, but when you are sitting in a class at your private school, you can bet that the majority of the parents of the students sitting next to you have supportive parents. When you sit in a public school classroom, you can’t assume the same. I have been a public school teacher for 20 years, and I sent my son to a private high school. (He went to public school up until 8th grade). I considered it an investment in his future. It was the best decision we (he had a say) could have made. Stick to the private school. Good luck!

Well, I believe a private school kind of limits your views and exposure to real world problems. In a private school, everyone’s parents want their children to be the very best and are involved with their child’s education. I suppose this is a good thing also, because then the student learns the toughness of competition. But in a public school, you are exposed to more poverty and the neglect some students have towards their studies. Therefore, you receive more first-hand experience on how to avoid these situations or live around them. But it’s all opinion based really. I say try the public school and if you don’t like it, you can always switch back!

Best of Luck!

I would definitely recommend public school. Private schools might offer a better education (in SOME areas of the country) but they are horrible at teaching kids about the real world. Every person I have met that has had some private schooling is just completely out of whack when they enter into either a public school, college, or the real world.

It just helps give kids a feel at how most of the population lives and interacts with one another.

At least, if you do wind up hating public school…it would only be for two years.

It depends on the size of the private school. If your private school is a nice size you are exposed to enough stuff that you wouldnt be completely lost when you went to college . But you should also choose witch one has a better education.

i think that going to a private school is less freedom. If you have the choice to go to a public school, i suggest you go. it’s such an awesome expierence.
