Well, I would recommend keeping a GPA of at least 3.5 if you are wanting to attend a competitive college. You also need to begin preparing for the SAT. Many ivy-league and upper level colleges only look at the SAT. A good attitude is a must since you will most likely interview for an upper level college and you will be required to give several letters of recommendation from teachers, employers, and and possibly even family. Extracurricular activities and volunteering can help set you out from your peers. As far as a cruddy school vs. a good school, they are going to prefer you if you come from a good school since you will be better prepared. Either way though, bad grades will not get you in (even if you are in a tougher school). Hope this helps!

I can tell you that if you get good grades in a cruddy school and bad grades in a good school it makes no difference to them. i got decent grades in a good high school and I wasn’t accepted to one of the colleges I applied because my class rank was not high enough. But had I gotten the same exact g.p.a. in a cruddy school my class rank would have been much higher, therefore I would have been accepted. Don’t stress too much. Just do your best and dont put things off until the last minute. And have fun, don’t let all the work stress you out!

It’s refreshing to see a high school student post a question like this one. You sound like a very smart young man since your concern is your grades and your future instead of the usual “does she like me” and “what should I wear” questions a lot of high school students post here.

I don’t have an answer to your question but I am giving you a star because your question, and you, deserve one.
