I love the flipflops

For those who are certified in cosmetology…???

I am currently a substitute teacher. I like it ok but this will be my last year as my daugher will move to Jr. High. I have a 14 year old and an 11 year old. I need a job with flexable hours as my children are very involved and I believe I may could do cosmetology. I have checked the area community college and could take classes there. Do you find this career rewarding, exciting and fun? What has been a draw back for you or what do you find is the hardest thing about it? You schooling…what classes were harder for you? thank you for any information…

I quit cosmetoglogy after ten years for a number of reasons. The pay wasn’t enough to support a family. It was also not as flexible as you might think. You need to be available on nights and weekends, as that is when of lot of people can come in. You can’t make the money if you can’t be there when the people are. It’s also hard on your back and knees. I STILL have back problems! The classes weren’t hard, but the job isn’t easy. You have some people who want a certain style then come in and complain when they don’t like it, even after you tell them it won’t look good with their facial features. You have to fix mistakes that others make and sometimes it’s just not possible to do that. It’s also really awkward telling a parent that their child may have head lice and that you cannot do the service.
