The principal is afraid of the liability of having you unsupervised in the building. Organize a committee and ask her to brainstorm solutions that would be acceptable. Example: A list of students who are entering the building, or working on Science Olympiad. Students sign in when entering. A release of liability from parents is also an idea.

Each principal is different, and each principal can make new rules as she sees fit for the school. A lot of schools don’t let kids in before a certain time because that is teacher planning time, and teachers aren’t there to babysit students on their planning time. I am not sure what Olympiad is but more than likely the principal sees that as an integral part of the curriculum and wants every student to benefit from it, therefore making it a requirement for all. Sorry for the inconvenience but this too shall pass and you will get use to the new system and eventually you may like it.

my mother always tells me that there is always a deeper reason why she does things to me that i don’t feel is right. you never know why your principal is doing what she does. the job of being principal is to do what is best for the school, even though it might not seem like a good thing now, it might be good for the students/school in the long run. maby you could talk to her about it, in a nice way, and tell her that most of the students don’t like what she is doing. if she really wants to do what’s best, she might take it into consideration.

with todays education system your principal should just be glad that students are interested in doing anything at all.
