NYU beyond my reach?

My dream school is NYU. I’m faced with a choice. This year i will be entering my senior year in high school but I also have the option of skipping this year and going to junior college instead. During my sophmore year I was diagnosed with major depression and got several D’s all of which I later made up. I took a year off school and left home ( I skipped a grade when I was younger so I figured I would be okay agewise) . When I came back I worked hard and managed to pull off a year with 8 A’s and 2 B’s. I would like nothing more than to go to NYU but realistically do I have a shot? Should I give up applying to schools as a freshman and just go to junior college this year. When can I apply to schools if I do? Do I have to complete two years before I can transfer to a better university like NYU? If I do apply to NYU as a freshman do I explain my poor performance sophmore year, do I mention being diagnosed with depression? Can being honest blacken my application and my chances?

Hmmm, can you apply early decesion to NYU? That might help your chances, or maybe an interview? (to explain your situation). But realistically, I have no idea, i heard NYU is really tough.
