Is there a way you can regain intelligence?

I am 12 years old, in 8th grade. I used to be so smart–I got As on everything. I skipped 3rd grade, because IQ tests proved that in 3rd grade, my IQ was 154 and I was reading at a 10th grade level. Teachers started thinking I was different when in first grade, I told a sixth grader how to sound out and spell the word “beige”. Now, it seems like I’m going downhill.I have a lot of difficulties, and I don’t like school anymore. Is there a way I can be “gifted” again???

You’re not stupid you just skipped a grade so everyone has had one more year studying than you have, people in year 8 are usually 13/14 so you’re at a disadvantage there, but if you compare yourself to other 12 year olds you’re not that bad at all. Also High School requires a lot more work since you have different subjects and different grades.

It might be hard, but you might want to slow down and repeat (it doesn’t mean you’re stupid, it just means you’re young).

IQ is Mental age/real age

so if u have an IQ of 150 and your real age is 12 then u have the same capability of a regular 18 year old. Honestly the fact the school is getting harder has nothing to do with you losing intelligence. Its just that school is trying to prepare you for highschool and thus its getting harder.

Also remember IQ tests have to be delivered by someone qualified to do so not the online tests, and even of official tests your score can vary by + or – 15 points.

In short, no there is nothing you can do to regain your intelligence because it never really left, I suggest that you find the subject that you do like, whether thats math, science, or history, and start learning more about that. You’ll still have to put up with the other subjects but at least you’ll have one to look forward to.

You probably still are. You actually sound a lot like me, though I didn’t skip any grades. You have never had to work at learning. You have caught on so fast that you dint even have to think about things…like a sponge you absorb everything teachers have taught you plus more. But the work has now gotten too hard to do that, and you actually have to work a little bit to remember what you are taught.

I personally feel that you are almost at a disadvantage here. When this happened to me, I gave up. It wasn’t until high school when I figured out that my low grades wouldn’t get me anywhere. So I started doing the homework and actually WORKING for a grade. Even in college I always scored in the 99 percentile on tests, partly because I didn’t have to work as hard as others, but because I am a good test taker as well.

But its extremely hard to actually have to work to learn…this is what nearly everyone else has been doing their whole lives.

You are still really smart I am sure.

Its just that sometimes we grow older and school is not the first priority anymore (although it should be). I bet you are doing more things now like hunging out with friends and maybe a boyfriend? A boy friend can make studies go downhill. Are you losing sleep? you cant be doing well if you are not sleeping enough, and you can also pay more attention on your diet, eat more blueberries, penaut butter and raisings, eggs in the morning… those are food that expers swear that will make your smarter by improving your memory and make your body work better over all

well, i guess because of that 154 IQ issue.. i guess u were in a pressure streak.. because the people around you looks up to you and thinks that u can do anything or know any thing.. i think u have to take it step by step.. u cant really say i wanna take back whats mine.. or maybe because of that iq test you’ve neglected something? i cant tell you to read and read and read books so as to regain your intelligence..

Make up for third grade? Or maybe study harder? Could be a lot of reasons. You’ll figure it out. You’re smart.

Well look at it this way. What effort you put into learning is what you’ll get out of it.There is no substitute for hard work.

Education in school is temporary,in life a lifetime.
