Is it mandatory for public schools to have working A/C?

I’m sitting in my free class and it’s 85 degrees in here or so. Everyone’s all sweaty and sticky…it’s so awful.

No, schools are not required to have air conditioning. However, many school districts dismiss students early should temperatures rise beyond a certain point.

Here in Western Illinois few schools have a/c. With classes starting in the hottest part of the summer (1st, 2nd & 3rd weeks of August) we have seen more early dismissals for the heat in the last few years. But these were for temperatures in the upper nineties.
