can you do a higher tier if you’re at the higher end of foundation .

I presume you are asking about the GCSE tiers, in which case, yes, if your school offers it, you can ask to appear for a higher / intermediate tier paper. However, the person in the school, who is responsible for the evaluation of students performance prior to the GCSE’s would have to OK you for it. When a student goes in for a lower tier exam than the normal, the board often asks for examples of work, recordings or oral presentations etc. All of these might have to be proffered to the board before you are allowed to give an examination in a different tier.

If you want to test yourself in this regard, get hold of some papers papers of the various tiers and see where you feel most comfortable.
