I really want to get into Cornell, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to…?

I just finished my sophomore year, and currently, I have a 3.6 unweighted GPA. (4.3 weighted). However, I’ve decided to work really hard and bring my GPA up to a 3.7, by the end of junior year. And junior year, I’m taking 3 AP classes. Sophomore year, I took all honors and 1 AP, and in freshman year, I took 6 honors classes. This year, I’m also planning to run for president of the yearbook club, and I’ve also organized a toy drive and donated all these toys later. This summer, I’ve organized a dance program, and taught dance to little kids, and donated the money later. I was also a finalist twice for a vocab bee, and won 1st place in singing. I’ve also danced on stage MANY (nearly 20-30) times.

My SAT score however, is like a 1920, and I’m planning to work really hard to bring that score up to a 2100.

Despite my low GPA and SAT score, do I still have a chance at Cornell?

Contact Cornell, website info…

Do you have an older brother/sister in college? They might be more help than parents. (Or maybe a cousin/friend can help.) Interview, they may just like you.

Why don’t you make an appointment with the guidance counselor at your school. They have all the information about the admission requirements for different colleges. Is there a particular reason you want to go to Cornell? There are probably several other schools that would have what you’re looking for, and the counselor could help you find them. It’s always good to have a couple of back-ups. You also should visit the campuses you are serious about. You may find that the school of your dreams isn’t what you thought it was. (I don’t mean Cornell specifically). Good luck!

sounds such as you’re on the superb suited song. My nephew is utilising to Cornell this 365 days and has very intense SAT rankings and grades, yet he realizes that the contest is intense. He has utilized to quite a few different colleges considering the fact which you not at all understand what each and each college is finding for from one 365 days to the subsequent. possibly they want extra women human beings in one 365 days, or extra adult adult males, or extra Liberal Arts majors, or regardless of. the ingredient is, shop up the sturdy artwork and don’t pin all your hopes and desires on one specific college. there are a number of high quality universities accessible and you will locate one. sturdy success.

Yes I do. I think schools are looking at students more holistically now – not just at their grades.

Apply early decision to show your commitment, and set up an interview. That can really make a big difference.

My daughter got into a school that was a big reach for her – because she applied early decision, and had a great interview. She starts next week.

Good luck honey! And just remember, if you don’t get into the school you want, you can probably transfer in later. Like my dad used to say – it doesn’t matter where you start – it matter where you finish.

The scores are important. Try to get those up if you can.
