One good thing about attending a large school (something no-one really thinks about) is that it’s easier for kids to find a place to fit in. There are more opportunities to meet ‘your kind’ of friends. More clubs, more sports, more subjects. Everyone is nervous the first time they go to a new school (no matter what size it is), so don’t stress to much. You’ll find your way around in no time. Don’t put up with anyone ‘bullying’ you. And don’t let anyone bully kids around you either. If someone says something mean to you – face them directly and look them straight in the eye and say something like “Gee, you sound like you’re having a really bad day, is there anything I can do to help you out?” If that doesn’t work, turn their butt right into your principal. No questions asked. Middle school can be tough, that’s for sure. Just remember that kids are all feeling lost and insecure (like you). Be kind, be strong, and study hard. You’re going to do just fine!

P.S. Do NOT fall for any of that friendship crap that involves drugs, smoking, alcohol – avoid, avoid, avoid (you’re just wasting precious time!).

don’t worry!!! It will be fine!! Okay, have back up plan if you miss the bus, do you have neighbors that can take you? If you miss one day of school from missing bus, it doesn’t really make a difference.

if you’re late, there is no big life-threatening consequences. You can ask teachers in the hallway to find classroom, it should be easy. Locate bathrooms around the school, it’s a good idea to know where bathrooms, the office, the nurse office, gym and cafeteria are located just to get a feel for the school. There should be orientation or some program you have to go to before school starts that will get you a little familiarized with the school. Don’t worry, you’ll make friends that are as new and scared as you!

don’t worry! i was extremely worried when i was your age too. but you it will just seem like another year in elementary school. you’ll just be moving around, but stay with the same people. and the teachers helped all the students on the first week or two of school and told them where to go. some teachers even led you to your next class if you’re unsure. don’t worrrrry! you will be fine! and about bullies – that never happened to mer (or of any of my friends). the older kids usually don’t pick on the younger kids. they’re only worried about whats going on with them. once again, don’t worry! i worried a lot – but the first day was perfectly fine!!!! good luck! oh, and teachers are really easy on the first week or two of school. they won’t freak out on you if you’re late. they understand that you’re getting use to the new school.
