Before u get smarter, remember that you need not to stress yourself. You are young and need to be a kid first. Try hard but don’t over due it…

I have no idea what pr apt and gt are all about – but if you want to improve yourself in school, the secret is to keep up with your homework and go beyond what is assigned to you. Ask your teachers for recommended reading lists – and read everything on those lists. If there are courses that you will have to take, that you are not taking now, you can always take a correspondence course to give you an introduction into the material. That way, when you do get the courses you want, you won’t be so far behind the rest of the class.

It isn’t going to be easy, but you already motivated, you want to do it, you have a goal – and that puts you halfway there already.

Good luck to you.

PS – all the advice in the other responses that urge you to read, read, read, are right on.

Read, read, read. There’s an infinite amount of books to read on just about any subject you could possibly be interested in. And they’re free at the library. I guarantee that any time you read a book you will learn at least one thing. Usually many more. So read, and increase your knowledge, because knowledge truly is power. Pay attention in class. Teachers are there to give you knowledge. If you don’t listen, you won’t benefit. Take careful notes that you will be able to understand later. Refresh yourself with those notes before testing. You already have what most kids your age don’t possess, the desire to learn. Keep plugging away and you’ll reach your potential. And don’t worry so much about how well your friends are doing. Everybody learns differently. Some just regurgitate what is given to them during class for the tests, and then they forget it all the next week. To truly learn is to understand the concept and be able to come up with examples in your head. That way you don’t forget it.

I can’t help you be smarter, but I can offer a suggestion.

Read, Read, Read.

It sounds silly, but I found that your brain is a muscle, and just like any other muscle the more you use it the stronger it gets.

Now the technical side,

Your brain uses up a chemical that is stored in the fluid around your brain when you think or read or anything that requires your brain to function.

When you get tired you have used up your store of this chemical and you need to rest to restore it. I have found that if you just take a small nap or even close your eyes and rest you brain for 5-15 minuts you give your body a chance to restore that chemical.

Also if you have to take a test it helps to eat a candy bar right befor the test, this gives you an extra jolt of glucose which is shugar and that will allow you to last longer ( up to 15 or 20 minuts ) while taking the test.

Remember, Read Read Read.

I doesn’t even matter what you read, history, math, biology, or even fiction, love stories, etc…

just get your brain used to working for longer periods of time.

hope this helps.
