How to rate a private school?

My daughter goes to a private school, however, some of the kids have changed schools to go to public schools. My daughter is in 1st grade. How do I find out if the school my daughter goes to is the right school. Please help.

Go online and print your state’s curriculum for grades K – 12.

Compared the state’s grade level expectations to those of the school your child attends. Being a tax payer, you have the right to visit 1st grade classes in your neighboring schools. If you are pleased with what you see after half-doz or so visits, enroll your child in a public school and save the $ for college.

What you need to look at is not only the private school but the public school as well. Depending on the area you are in the public school could be just as good if not better then the private school.

What you want to look at is

How long have the teachers that she will have in the next few years been teaching?

Where did they graduate from (if possible to find out) and how long theyve been teaching at that specific school.

Standards, organization, testing that is done. (like every year we had to take state tests, you can see what percentage most of the students fall in to see where the students are on a level compared to the rest of the test[we took CTBS i believe] this way you can find out the work that is being taught)

Do they have things like “phased classes” for the older students, reading vans or other extra help for children who may need it.

Is it a diversified staff and student body.

You can see what kind of books they are being taught out of, are there things like science fairs, clubs, labs for science for the older kidsect.

If all of this meets your standards then she is in the right school. And like I said it really depends on the area, in some areas private schools are safer, less conjested so there is more student/teacher interaction and of course the whole uniform issue to focus on studies rather then looks. Public schools though are bigger and normally have more options, but depending on the options your private school has, it could be just as good if not better.

Thankyou for asking this.Firstly I go to a Public school.I went to Private School actually from like K-6th grade. In 7th Grade I switched to Public School and I love Public School-(Im in 9th Grade this year). The thing Is that I didnt really care for Private School as much as Public Because they dont require as much as Private schools. But actually what you should look at is if the QUALITY CHRISTIAN EDUCATION is good and how it will affect your daughters life when she gets older. Then again you may not agree with what shes being taught,But again, thats your choice. Also, some private schools BEG for money and they beg you to sell stuff beyond measure. So I would sugguest just look at the points that I was making to you!
