What is a drum manger?

1. a box or trough in a stable or barn from which horses or cattle eat.
2. Nautical.

It’s not ‘drum manger’ it is ‘drum major’.
A manger is what holds hay in a barn for animals to feed on – it is commonly believed that Jesus Christ was placed in a manger as there were no cribs available in the location he was born.
As for becoming a drum major – it is probably a selection process made by the band director at your school – I would talk with him/her and find out what the parameters for this position are.
