You just have to fine the place you like, if it sports, try out for a team, it it taking pictures, then yearbook…
And if you think your not going to like it, then it will move slow, talk the time, to look around, and you will see it not all that bad.
When you are in your senior year, regardless of whether or not you like the people you graduate with, you will wish it would never end.
Trust me.
I’m a senior this year, and when I went to get my senior pictures done, they put that red gown on me… and they set that graduation cap on top of my head, with a beautiful tassel hanging down, and I nearly cried. I can’t believe how fast it went by. Just yesterday I was a freshman at my school; didn’t know where to go; only knew about 7 people. And here I am getting SENIOR pictures done, looking at getting my CLASS RING here soon, and shouting 2008 is actually a good thing.
But, instead of being ultra-excited, I’m scared as heck! Where will I go to college? Did I get good enough grades those first two years? I’m going to be far from home. Will I get homesick in college?
I’m totally freaked out about it. And I still find myself staring at my senior portrait on the wall in the hallway… just staring… and thinking “is that really me?”
My dad caught me in the hall one day staring at my picture. He put his hands on my shoulders and said “You know, you’ll be 18 soon. And yet, I look at that picture right there… that senior picture, and you know what I see? I see a bright-eyed, eager kingergarten graduate. I see you graduating kindergarten.” I said, “But dad… you see me every day.” He said, “I know. And you know what I see EVERY day when I look at you? I see that little baby, with the tiny hospital bracelet on, looking up into my face with huge brown eyes. I see that tiny smile creep across your lips, and I hear that laugh you had when I played peek-a-boo with you. I see a toddler bringing me fake cakes and pies and spaghetti made in a fake kitchen, just like mommy. And I see a 7 year old playing with babies… the best mommy ever.” I just smiled and he hugged me and kissed my forehead. Neither of us can believe it.
So, before you start rushing through it all, take your time. It’ll get there. I promise.
