First day of school. Panic attack?
OK, so school starts on the 20th. My first day as a freshman in high school. I had a bad panic attack on the first day of summer school this year, and stayed home that day because it was so bad. I’m afraid it’s going to happen again, but I really cannot miss my first day. My mom can’t get me to a doctor until September because of some mix up with health insurance. Does anyone have any advice?

I suffer from the same thing I have panic attacks in certain situations but just make sure not to thnk about it. the more you think about having a panic attack the more frequent they will happen. Just go to the school and just go to your classes like you did in 8th grade. I know 9th grade kind of sucks since its your first year being a high school but once the first day goes by you should be fine. Also talk to your parents so you can release some of the anxiety that you are having always helps me. Also if you cant fall asleep the day before ask your mom to give you something so you can sleep my cousin always had t do this cause she would start to have panic attacks and she would take something the night before so she can sleep. Just emember be yourself when you go to school. Just think your not the only freshman going through the nervous stage about going into high school. Have fun! Remeber dont think about it and talk to someone.

One thing I always do when I get nervous… like before I go on stage or something…and on the first day of school is turn on my favorite CD. I just sing and get ready and usually I haven’t really thought about it. go to any orientations or open houses that your school is having so you don’t have to worry about not knowing where to go!
Take deep breaths!

Ooh first day could be very nerve wrecking but hear what i did in those cases, i stuck to being by myself observing the teachers, surroundings and other students, but take note the key to presenting your self in a positive way is when you have to introduce yourself in a class, remember the others are seeing you as the “new kid” so express where your from, your interests & hobbies in a cool way. Trust me after that those kids were begging to be my frind!! keep your head up my friend you will get through it!!! **SMILE**

If you suddenly start to feel stressed just start taking deep breaths. It can’t take control of you if you don’t let it. Sometimes closing your eyes while deep breathing works too. Takes your mind off what is going on around you.

Remember that EVERYONE has the jitters, even if they aren’t showing it. Remember that everyone is so focused on their own behavior and what they are doing that they aren’t paying ANY attention to anyone else.
