We use post codes which are the same i guess. Postcodes are a combination of both numbers and letters.

the country is split up into regions, i guess the larger towns in that area will be the starting point.

i.e – Reading is a large town in Berkshire. All postcodes within the Reading Area which also includes smaller towns and villages will start with a Reading Postcode (RG).

They have postcode districts like we have zip codes in the United States. There are many of these districts within the UK as there are here in the US.

U.K. has a postal system (it is not known as zip code). I looked up 10 Downing Street (The British Prime Minister’s residence), and I came up with,

SW1A 2AA
