I think the first step to help yourself is to approach your teacher and advise them that you are having trouble understanding the lessons. You will find that most teachers are more then willing to help you if you let them know you are interested in what they are teaching. You can advise your teacher that maybe they can change their style of teaching to help you understand. If that does not work I would see your guidence counselor to see if there are other teacher available for you to transfer to their class. People learn different ways and sometimes they need to find the best match for their style of learning. That is what I had to do in college. I had to find a Calculus teacher that would work the problems and not just tell us use the examples in the book to learn. hope this helps & good luck

Bring a tape recorder to class. Maybe you can look up the words you don’t understand in the dictionary. Perhaps you just need to talk to your guidance counselor and get switched from that class into a different one. Do you read your chapters BEFORE you enter the classroom for discussion. You know, reading the chapter every night might improve your grade, and also if you take your own notes about the chapter. Usually the tests come straight from the book.

Well First You have to say to yourself, this is the time to change, if you watch TV or play games quit them until the weekends and if you don’t know what your teacher is saying then after class or after school or even before school ask the teacher for help.

make sure you have a good place to study and do homework at. make sure you dont have any music or TV on. that can be really distracting. listen in class and take notes everyone once in a while. im getting a C+ in soc. studies and i asked the teacher what i can do to take my grade up to atleast a B and she handed me some extra credit work.
