I’m so nervous about going into high school…What can I expect?

I’m going to be a freshman this year, what can I expect? Are the upper class men really going to be mean? What are some tips for high school? I also want to get straight A’s how can I achieve that goal? Please any advice that you can give is wonderful! Thanks!

Upperclassmen will probably goof on you a bit, they hate freshmen. I never let it bother me though. Always be prepared in high school, never turn in late homework. I am a straight A student, I always try to study, and complete all assignments before they are due. I’m not a last minute kind of person. Good luck in high school. And try to get along with your teachers.

You might not love every minute, but this will be the most fun time of your life, and the other students will also never be happier or more fun. Treasure the strange events, the fun projects, and all the memories—they will have to last a lifetime.

Life is downhill after high school :-p

Anyway, THIS is the time to break out of the wrapper, push the envelope, and go against the current–if you’re a jock, be a nerd—if you’re a nerd, be a jock–if you’re conservative, join a protest—volunteer for different school activities, join a school club you never thought you would, try for the school play/musical, you just might find your life-vocation by accident. This is when it happens, and it’s lots more fun than getting straight “A’s”.

1. No. While a few might have a superiority complex, most upper classmen (juniors and seniors) are very kind to freshmen and willing to help them out. Sophomores can be jerks though because they think that now they are no longer freshman they are better than everyone else. Just ignore them and wait for them to grow out of it in a year.

2. Talk and make friends with everyone, don’t think that you will have to be friends with only freshmen because you are a freshman. High school is meant to encourage mingling and it’s good to have a wide range of friends because you never know when one might come in handy. (Especially seniors, who might just help you avoid a senior prank.)

3. You can achieve it, but only if you do all your homework and study for your finals, which occur at the end of a semester and are usually around 20% of your *final* class grade. Many freshmen don’t do well their first year because they’re adjusting to no longer being babied as much by teachers and wanting to appear like cool high school kids by ditching class to hang out with friends. While friends are important, grades are even more important and should be a top priority. Even if you find the class challenging, you can usually pass with a low A so long as you do all your homework.

When you reach your junior year I suggest entering in a few AP classes. Although it’s intimidating to enter one because it’s a “college-level” course, they are usually a lot better than a regular class because everyone–the teacher included– are more focused, and (if you do well on the AP exam) it can help you skip a few introductory classes when you go to college, which will save your family money.

Also, DON’T catch senioritis. Chances are you will have a senior in at least a couple of your classes whose contageous senioritis will begin to spread through out the room as the year nears its end and graduation rears its end. It’s tempting, but try your hardest to avoid it. As you get older you will find yourself even more likely to catch it but you must do your best to stay healthy and away from it because it can really screw you (and others) over.

Just like every school u’ll see the bad guys, smart guys, cool guys etc. And high school is like Jr high but larger alot larger(at least in my school). Ur going to see a lot of changes in friends b/c of peer pressure. Some might change in a bad way, some for the good. Also ur friends in high school are most likely only be ur friend in high school after high school u’ll wont see them again(I haven’t chill went any of my high school friends since i started college)A good tip for high school is to think about the future every time you make a decision. Like ask urself how will this help me in the future ..eg. joining a club or sport team, honors and AP classes. B/C u’ll going to look back and say damn i f’ed up in high school or should of take high school more serious. Trust u’ll see that in seniors and a lot other people who already graduate.

To get straight A’s is simple all you need is one thing DISCIPLINE b/c high school is not that hard. Its hard trying not to hang with Ur friends b/c u have homework(u know stuff like that).

Also trying to have fun or else u’ll be miserable all of ur high school years. Don’t take too serious, just enough.

And finally don’t act like high school events are the biggest thing in this world..like prom, homecoming dance and homecoming game etc. A lot of people get lost in that aspect of high school, also in stuff like “lets be cool” type things and then they end nowhere.

P.S “papyrusbtl” life is not downhill after high school if so then i feel sorry for u. I’m 21 yrs old, no parents to worry about or yellin. I just do what i want when i want …how is that worst then high school, when still r treated like a little kid?

I didn’t find the upperclassman to be that bad. I guess it depends how involved you get and who you are hanging out with. Just keep to yourself and your friends and do your homework. Lots of studying. Just like middleschool just bump it up a knotch. The really hard work doesn’t come along until Junior and Senior years.

the only difference is a different and bigger school, you should have all your friends from junior high there with you as well so it won’t be different at all.
