I do not think that New York schools are harder/ more difficult then other state’s schools. I would think that the schools that are harder are the ones that test better, and get better ranking then the less rigorous schools. Vermont, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, are the best performing schools, and therefor probably the hardest. New York ranks #10 which is better then some states, but not better then the nearby states.

I used to think so, but after seeing the results the students in NY are just as dumb as they are elsewhere.

I know one high school graduate who couldn’t tell me what

0.1 * 10 = ?

And thought Denmark was a city.

As I recal they considered throwing the Math REgents exam out in 2004 because next to no one passed it.

They are certainly more rigorous than many states, but this is all to the good. What you get is a solid preparation for college if you study. My experience dates back to the late 60’s, things may have changed in the interim, but I hope they have not back-stepped in their requirements.
