Class Rings: cool or dorky?
Favorite Answer
But when you think about it, the goons who salivate over the ‘shiny stones’ superglued to a massive -not to mention hideous- band are really doing what they’re expected to; highschool is where people try to develop and discover themselves. Oftentimes this results in desperate attempts at an identity, what better way to find that identity than an overated, overpriced piece of crap?
Short answer: class rings represent an exclusive class, and the journey through it. Though highshool is a journey, it should not be commemorated by a rock and some shiny metal. Save that for later.
My parents made me the offer that I could get a class ring that I would wear for 4 years then be done with (nobody wears them after high school), or I could pick out a nice, classy ring at the jewelry store that I could wear the rest of my life and that would be my “high-school ring”. I went for the nice ring from the jewelry store, and I’m glad I did.
It’s sort of like an official representation of being an upperclassmen.
Me being a junior this year, definitely looking forward to it.
