I want to become a veterinary surgeon, I am currently completing grade 11 at high school, and wondering what prerequiset subjects I have to choose next year for grade 12 to be accepted into uni?

Also – what score do I have to achieve?

Speak to your guidance counselor. There are no courses that are obviously given to directly prepare you for your chosen field. Consider if offered something to do with animal care or biology.

Ask Linda about your career plan
You must not depend on your high school guidance counselor unless you want to be disappointed.

Contact colleges you will consider attending after finishing high school, request a school catalog and a

telephone appointment with a college counselor. They are happy to speak to you now.

Ask and you will learn all the requirements needed to be considered and accepted at the school you are considering for your professional education. You will then be prepared to plan your high school education next year and shoot for the required GPA.

Identify local veterinary surgeons in your area and write to to them and ask questions be sure to include your phone number.

1. Don’t be surprised when you get at least one phone call from a veterinarian.

2. Ask for a part-time after school or weekend voluntary job to take-in the environmental setting, job requirement, and demands. Ask questions about challenging topics like marketing, sales, pricing and other issues not learned in medical school.

2.Don’t be nervous or be nervous and do it anyway.

Best of Luck
