I’m not in high school anymore… graduated 2001… but in my high school, “Freshmen Friday” was the first Friday of the school year. The only kids that had to worry about getting hazed were the popular kids, who usually knew older kids from the classes above them. Being as unpopular as I was, nobody bothered me. But I remember seeing plenty of kids covered with eggs. I remember being jealous of them =)

I think it largely depends on your school, but from experience, I can tell that most schools do not have any serious hazing. There are exceptions, of course, but on the whole I do not think that you have anything serious to worry about. Hazing is a tradition that administrations deeply frown upon, and if it does occur at your school regularly, then the faculty and staff will be aware of this and stand on the lookout.

If you really are worried, then I suggest simply being cautious. Walk around with a group of friends for the beginning, and do not wander off to empty parts of the schools by yourself. Stick close to other people–peers, teachers, etc. You can work out a regular route, if you like, to know where you are going and avoid getting lost and picked on.

Honestly, you do not have much to worry about (even though, again, it depends on your school). Just be cautious in the beginning, but later you will have established yourself in the new school and won’t have many problems like this.

At my school, hazing doesn’t occur at all. There might be funny or stupid comments made at the beginning of the year (about how short and tiny the freshmen are, about how everyone wants to just squish them out of the way) but they are just made to draw a few laughs and stop after a month or two. Seniors aren’t monsters. They were freshmen once, too. And there are always those upperclassmen that are willing to help anyone new to the school.

Good luck!

There isn’t any hazing at our school, considering it’s prohibited and any form of violence will get you, not suspended, but expelled.

If you are asking because you are worried, then stop worrying. I doubt that many, if any, schools still do hazing things. I’ve heard of it happening in college if you join a sports team or some other sort of club, but it truly is against every school’s rules to do so.

If you are being hurt by upperclassmen and are asking in order to see if it’s normal, it’s not. You need to tell someone if another person is beating up on you.

We don’t do hazing. You do have the label of “stupid freshman” the enitre year though. Then again, everyone had the label when they were freshman.

Also, we tend to push the freshman and sophomores around in the hall. An upperclassmans schedule is more in important than a 1st or 2nd year.

Well, I’m a freshie this year and nothing’s happened to me, except that someone stole my lock off my locker. What’s Hazing? I don’t think you’ll have much trouble as long as you don’t sass off to the older people or act arrogant in any way. By the way, at my school seniors aren’t the problem. It’s the Sophomores.

Well I have an older sister who’s a senior now, and when she was a freshman none of those things happened to her. And now that she’s a senior, she’s not doing anything to the freshman.
