Biology A level?

I’ve just started my A level biology course, but I have a really bad teacher..In my physics GCSE i was in the same situation but i was able to practically teach myself physics and did well in the exam. Is it possible to do this with A level? Will textbooks, websites etc be good enough to teach myself most of the course? Ofcourse if i have difficulty i can always ask to make sure, with my current teacher or any of the other bio teachers at school that i know. I was just wondering if it is possible to get an A this way, from anyone doing/has done A level biology?

I’m determined to get an A and i love the subject, it just sucks that i have a rubbish teacher 🙁

Since you have a SUCKS lecturer, then I suggest you to study yourself. But you still need to pay attention in class.

Remember, you got to STUDY SMART BUT NOT STUDY HARD! But you need to be hardworking.

In A-level Biology, you need to buy its textbook, which is published by the University of Cambridge. It’s essential as all the questions will base on what you’d learnt on this book. Trust me.

Here is the title of the book:-

CIE Biology AS Level and A Level (Cambridge International Examinations)

by Mary Jones (Author), Richard Fosbery (Author), Dennis Taylor (Author), Jennifer Gregory (Author)

ISBN-10: 052153674X

ISBN-13: 978-0521536745

Please visit this site to have a better view:-

Other than that, try to get a reference book. Here is my suggestion:-

Longman A-level Course in Biology: Core Syllabus Vol. 1 by Hoh Yin Kiong

ISBN-10: 9814093564

ISBN-13: 978-9814093569

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b/104-7804370-0355962?initialSearch=1&url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=Longman+Biology+Core+Syllabus

This book are very details and provide what you needed in A-level.

In the same time, you can do mind map for every chapter or every sub-chapter.

Here got Tony Buzan Collections:-

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b/104-9303394-4562333?initialSearch=1&url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=Tony+Buzan

His mind-mapping book is really good.

Remember, do not buy those really really big books for reference as it is too much for you and already out of the syallabus. You need to reduce your scope and pay attention on what you are going to study.

Last but not least, it is good that you have a clear picture on what you are studying. So, I recommend you this site:-

http://www.sumanasinc.com/webcontent/anisamples/biology/biology.html

It got biology animation help you in better understanding.

Please bear in mind that A-level education system require you to understanding, NOT MEMORISING!!!

Happy studying then…

studying A level biology is difficult without a teach because its such a long course and requires maximum attention.however you can pass because at the moment i do not have a biology teacher myself but in my last exam i got a B,which means that with a llittle more effort you can also pull it of without a teacher
