AP English….?

I started school weeks ago taking all regular classes. My school offers AP and IB but I didn’t think I would be ready. I took all Pre-AP classes in freshman year, but then I was homeschooled for sophmore year and took correspondence courses. I’m now back in public school and I didn’t think I would be ready for AP, but my regular English class is SO BORING!!!! Its way too easy for me and I finish my work ahead of everyone. I don’t know what to do though because school started two weeks ago and AP English had two summer reading books that I haven’t read. I am a year ahead of grade level in English. I take senior English instead of junior English. So in my actual senior year I will be taking a college English class. So, my question is, is it better for me to have a High A in English regular, or to switch to AP and get mid-B’s? I’m talking about how it applies to getting into college. Which is better for them? I have taken the PSAT and excelled on the English portion and did…

I say take AP. I’m taking AP English (English Language, not English Lit/Comp correct?) and it’s not very hard at all. Regular classes, in my opinion, are draining and take all of my spirit away from me, so I always go with AP or GATE. Plus, you can get college units over with by taking the AP test, anyway.

Well if you did well on the PSAT English portion I’m pretty sure that should gauge your success in the class.

Honestly, the AP classes arent extraordinarlily difficult. If you can interpret literature, prose, poetry, reasonably well, I promise you’ll do just fine.

Colleges love seeing you challenge yourself- I’ve often heard that attaining a B in an AP class is even better then an A in a regular class so don’t hold back. Take that class, and get your rightfull A.

1. You need all the English you can get–4 years to get into a common college.

2. You have no business being in regular English. Your grammar is flawless. You need to switch into AP immediately. That matters to colleges, too.

3. Regular English is boring because no one wants to be there. They’d rather play.

4. Are you taking a foreign language. You need 2 years, at least of a foreign language to get into a good college.

5. I wouldn’t worry about a “B” in English AP unless you’re going to valedictorian or Harvard.

6. I can’t believe, that, being a year ahead in English, you signed up for any non-AP class.

If it were me, just my opinion, I’d see my counselor immediately, bust my buns reading those books, and get caught up to a class that may actually challenge you. That’s when you learn.

P.S. I’m a published writer, and there is one tip about your writing that would improve things. Break up into smaller paragraphs. People see this page-long monolog and they are depressed before they even read your post.

Honestly, I would say, go for the regular English class. Yes, it is boring, but then again if regular English class is boring then AP English must be boring-er (lol, funny word). Plus, you can get a higher grade in regular English πŸ™‚ instead of getting a lower grade in AP English. To be truthful, college don’t care how many AP classes you are taken, as long as your GPA and your SAT score is good. πŸ™‚
