PLAY!!! Playing with the kids passes the time faster, and keeps them happier! Cars, Barbies, coloring, make-believe…etc. Anything they wanna do!! Ask the parent what they would prefer you prepare for dinner, maybe they could lay out something you could make. Bedtime–ask the parents or child what the usual going-to-bed routine is. IF the child cannot go to bed without a story read, then do that! Always remind the child(ren) that Mom & dad will come give them a kiss when they get home. Once alseep: Watch TV, do homework, read, do craft, anything you wanna that doesn’t break the parents rules! Rate depends on how many children. I usually would charge about $4.00 an hour per child. Just to make it easier on the parents to be able to go out!! Ya still make some money & they’ll be more likely to call you again!! Babysitting is more then just making a buck. Think of the time that you’re helping the parents to have. As a mother of four, I know that finding an affordable sitter is hard!! If you are willing to charge a little less then others, the parents will call you more often! And refer you to their friends as well. In the long-run you could end up making MORE then charging a lot. And lets face it, if you ENJOY the time with the kids, you build a relationship that’s priceless, and it’s GREAT practice for when you have children of your own!

Goldfish Crackers, Peanut Butter Captain Crunch, Carrot Sticks & Little Pickles. Kids love these finger foods and they are all healthy foods when not eaten in excess. As far as the crafts go….Finger Paints all the way. It’s washable and fun for the kids. Plus it’s a great creative outlet. My kids are teenagers and every time they talk about the most fun they had in school when they were little, they always talk about finger painting. Good luck!

Try this, bring three different kinds of apples. One green (granny smith) one red, (washington) one yellow (golden delicious) and have a graph ready or sponge paint of apples. And, also have some apples enough for the class for snack. It will serve as both snack, science and math. You can even bring pictures or books such as “The Giving Tree” a Dr. Seuss book that is theme related. Good luck and I know you’ll enjoy it!!!

I teach pottery to preschoolers. They all love it. As for snacks anything they can eat with their fingers. I always have them make pinch pots to begin with & when the pots are dry, they get fired in a kiln. When I bring them back the kids get to glaze them & back to the kiln go the little pots. All the kids in this class have a little dish they’ve made for their snacks.

This is a real biggie for them. To have made something from a ball of clay. You should see them when I bring in what they did the previous week. Their eyes light up and they all grin like the Chesshire Cat from Alice..

-Play dough is a big hit in my classroom. You need to have alot of it.

-Watercolor painting.

-try making binoculars with 2 toilet paper rolls stapled together and painted by kids.

-Rock painting is always fun, use tempura paints and glue on google eyes

=Tissue paper collage, cut various shapes and colors of tissue paper let kids glue and arrange on paper.

-making cards is fun, just fold paper in half and offer markers and glitter and maybe some cutouts to decorate with

For snacks:

my kids like pretzels, raisins, fruit snacks, animal crackers, gogourts, popcorn (find out about allergies first.) and juice

Good luck !! it takes alot of creativity and help to keep a group of preschoolers intrested and stimulated…check out websites under google search: Preschool ideas.
