How many years after high school would it take me to be able to be a pilot for a commercial airline?

Like flying jets.

Typically you need 1,500 hours of non-accident flight time and 250 of which is on a multi-engine plane.

Current pay for a regional airline pilot starts at $18,000. As you gain experience this pay increases. Except to work strange hours and as you progress expect to be away from home more than you are at home.

After 15-20 years you may have the opportunity to become a captain for more prominent routes and earn around $100,000. +/- $20k depending on airline.

FedEx and UPS are the highest paying companies for pilots. Both ranging from $150,000 to $270,000 for roughly 40 hours a month of service.

Not sure about the time requirement, but I know that a lot of commercial pilots earned their training in the military.
