Will moving to Puerto Rico cause more harm than good to my children?
Thinking of moving to PR with my two boys. The oldest is on the mild autism spectrum (PDD-NOS). Both boys are beginning to learn to speak Spanish (ages 11 & 6). I will graduate soon with a BA in Early & Middle Childhood Education (K-5). The area of interest for relocation, Ponce and relocating in 2-3 years. Thank you and God Bless!

I think you have to look at
1. The school situation. Is it better there than where you are now. Check Greatschools.net and see if they show PR schools.
2. Safety where you plan to live.
3. Are your kids really attached to anything/anyone where you are now?
4. Where are your extended family? It will be very difficult to visit if they are far away.

The answer to the question depends…Do you have family there? Anyone that they are familiar with? My husband used to go there a lot on travel and told said it is a beautiful place. I also have a Friend from there that says that he could never go back there because of the crime and the way people drive. If you are from the States and don’t know anyone there I would say it is not a good idea to uproot your children like that. You could always teach in the U.S. Good luck just make sure that you really research it before moving there.

Oh, for heaven’s sake. Moving doesn’t cause harm to children. Puerto Rico is no worse than Mexico, Africa, China, or here. It is also a US Territory. In my opinion it should become a US state, but whatever.

if they dont know their spanish well they are going to have a hard time so if your really thinking of going then make sure in these next 2-3 years you make them learn spanish and know it like the backs of their hands I dont think a move will be bad it gives them a chance to meet new people and not be narrow minded about the world im about to be 19 and i am about to make my 6th move to NY this summer its hard sometimes but its so worth it in the end

there’s almost no hope for their future in puerto rico
don’t people only go their for vacations?
i think it would be better for their careers and that they will be more successful here in the US
isn’t that why a lot of people jump the border??..

Yolanda I dont care where you move. What you need to do is realize is that this world is Doomed! ok. lol not playing. The Bible tells us in the last chapter revelation. Please read this chapter. Tell your kids about Jesus because in the End thats all that matters. Good Luck Pray for wisdom and understanding. Read the Bible.
