I think MsBetsy1 is exactly wrong. I would never send a child to a preschool or kindergarten which was trying to impose their moral values them. If a child goes to school, they should be learning academic skills. As to why a school should NOT fix a target for academic excellence, fixing it would lead to stagnation. You should have a target, but continuous improvement suggests that it should be a moving one, so that you keep aiming for more.

Preschools and kindergartens. I mean, these schools should develop social schools and moral values. The way many of them are obsessed with writing skills and foreign languages is crazy, in my opinion.

Neniaf, I guess you’re right about most schools but I still have a different opinion on kindergartens. I believe that every kindergarten imposes moral values.

Just think, every kindergarten has it’s set of rules

Tell the truth (Honesty)

Be nice to others (Kindness)

Help each other (Kindness)

Respect others (Respect)

Kids get punished for hitting/biting others. That leads to the idea that violence is wrong. Another moral value!

So that’s something we disagree on. But that’s okay. In general though, I do agree that the purpose of a school is academic excellence.
