Ms. Chanandler Bong

why does Q represent rational numbers?

i know why it SHOULDN’T be r or R, but why not any other letter BUT Q?

I mean “Q” representing rational numbers as

“Z” represents ‘integers’ and

“Q bar” represents irrational numbers.

Btw, if anyone knows why Z = integers, please do tell =)

Alas, great question. I have a feeling that I’ve read the answer somewhere, but it escapes me.

All I can say is that Germans did a lot of work in number theory and set theory. Maybe the words for integer and irrational numbers in German begin with Z or Q? Or maybe an important figure simply marveled at those unused, neglected letters.

355/113 will recur with a era of length decrease than 113. The definition wins right here and says that 355/113 is rational. the subject is in assuming that 355/113, which superficially imitates pi partly of its decimal representation, does not terminate. yet another subject is in the certainty that the rationals and irrationals are disjoint instruments by ability of their definitions. i’m curious as to why you theory that 355/113 does not recur?
