What’s a more proper way to say “flipped out on”?

I’m writing a report and I’m sure if I wrote that someone flipped out on another person I would get in trouble. So what’s another thing to say while still getting that point across?

I would probably use unsettled, unbalanced or unglued.

aberrant, bewildered, confused, crazed, crazy, demented, deranged, deviant, deviate, dingy, disarranged, disordered, distracted, disturbed, flipped*, flipped out*, hallucinatory, incoherent, insane, irrational, lightheaded, lunatic, mad, maniac, maniacal, manic, rambling, raving, unhinged, unreasonable, unsettled, wandering

ape, barmy, batty, berserk, bonkers*, cracked, crazed, cuckoo, daft, delirious, demented, deranged, dingy*, dippy*, erratic, flaky, flipped*, flipped out*, freaked out*, fruity*, haywire, idiotic, insane, kooky, lunatic, mad, maniacal, mental*, moonstruck*, nuts, nutty, potty*, psycho*, screw loose*, screwball*, screwy*, silly, touched*, unbalanced, unglued*, unhinged*, unzipped*, wacky, whacko
