a question for anyone who has gone to highschool???

i’m starting highschool this thursday and i’m taking all honors courses (before you assume i’m a super nerd, about 45% of my school takes honors – “standard” courses are considered for the slower-paced, and above honors are A.P. courses for the upper 20% of the super-smart kids). i’m also doing orchestra in the morning.

my question is, i really want to do volleyball for a fall afterschool sport. will i have enough time?

i know many of you will suggest to wait a week and assess the workload, but do the highschool teams let you start a week or two late?

thanks!

I’m a recent high-school grad and college attendant. I used to play soccer for my high school. It is difficult to know whether or not you will have enough time for all the extracurricular activities you wish to engage in. My friend who is still in high school is in the all city marching band, but still manages to be a captain for the soccer team. My sister plays soccer, is a member of ASL, and is in ROTC. Plus, she is in an elite high school that is known for high academic achievements. Those are all major time consumers! Its only the first week of school for her as a 9th grader, so I don’t know if she is stressed out or not.

My best advice is that it will work out. Most teachers and coaches are willing to help work things out with you. Most coaches don’t let you start a week late because games usually start the first week of school. If you do decide to skip on volleyball though, there is always next year to join!

JUST GO FOR IT! if it becomes too much your coach will understand, and possibly help you out. dont miss out on after school sports and programs due to a heavy class schedule. these after school sports and programs are just as important as your classes. dont miss out!
