What is the mandatory number of subjects that high school seniors are required to pass in the US?

Is it mandatory to study a language for college, if your subjects are eg – physics, chemistry and maths, and you want to go to study engineering in college?

There is no national mandatory number. Each school district sets the requirements but they all look at what each other requires.

The things you need to qualify for an engineering school are not set by the high school. Check with the engineering schools you want to attend. They give you complete criteria for admission. They are all similar but many have different requirements.

If you are going to be an engineer, you will learn new languages. They are computer programming languages.

One of the biggest problems engineers have is communication with non-engineers. They are usually the ones you are designing something for. Studying a ‘foreign’ language forces you to learn your own much better. Once you learn to translate your thoughts to another language, you will be much better and communicating in your own language.
