TARGET OR WALMART…WHICH DO YOU PREFER…need public opinions for college essay?
I’m writing a paper for a public relations class analyzing the public image of Target vs. that of Walmart.
Here are a few questions to consider…please give honest opinions and provide reasonining so I can effectively use your views in my paper.
Thanks 🙂
Which do you prefer to shop at, Target or Walmart? Why?
Would you go out of your way to shop at your store of preference if the other was closer to your home or location at the time? Why?
List Positive and Negative feelings you have about both Target and Walmart for comparison.
If you’re against shopping at Walmart….what changes could they make that would make you want to shop there in the future?
Any answers to any of the above questions would be helpful…answers to all questions would be FANTASTIC…
thanks again 🙂

I prefer to shop at Target for a couple of reasons, but I regulary shop at Walmart for others.
On Target:
1) Target is cleaner and neater.
2) Target is more trendy.
3) Target’s merchandise seems to be of better quality.
4) Target’s “red elfs” are more helpful.
5) Target ALWAYS has plenty of check out counters open.
6) Target has affordable upscale gourmet items.
On Walmart:
1) Walmart has more variety of merchandise.
2) Walmart is convenient.
3) Walmart’s return policy is very loose.
4) Walmart offers more services (i.e., tire & lube, optometrist, haircut, bank, photo studio, garden shop, etc.).
If both stores existed beside each other, I would choose Target every time because I prefer it; however, if I knew that Target did not sell something, I would go to Walmart. I guess it comes down to convenience and professionalism. Since Walmart is everywhere, Walmart tends to be closer. So we shop at Walmart more often.
Perhaps this is one reason that we enjoy Target more than Walmart. We are not there as often; therefore, Target has an appeal than Walmart does not.
Since I’ve already listed positives, here are negative for both stores.
Off Target:
1) Strict and technical return policies
2) Limited availability of products
Off Walmart:
1) Dirty and unkept stores
2) Employees don’t seem to care
3) RARELY have enough check out lines open
Walmart could improve by hiring people that care about their job. It always come down to the personnel. Perhaps by hiring people at minimum wage (or barely above) Walmart could pay more. This would attract higher quality individuals rather than the mostly uneducated people that currently work there. That we be the first step. Those people would then care. They’d care about what their store looks like. They’s care about being available to help the customers. They’d care about getting people through the checkout faster to be on their way.
I hope my opinion helps you. Good luck!
I prefer getting my food from the replicator because it is convenient and free.
Would you go out of your way to shop at your store of preference if the other was closer to your home or location at the time? Why?
All replicators are the same. I wouldn’t walk half way across the Enterprise for nothing. Scotty on the otherhand, he believes the Scotch on bridge is much better. It’s all in his head though, I ran the tricorder over it – same chemical makeup as the rest.
List Positive and Negative feelings you have about both Target and Walmart for comparison.
No feelings. Both of them never made it beyond Earth.

I’d appreciate a Sick Bay, tri-corder, and a replicator.
Years ago, I liked Walmart when Sam ran it. He featured “made in USA” products. When he died, the greed-barons took over and got the cheapest garbage they could to replace US goods. Sam BUILT WalMart on the back of US-made products. To then go to China as the preferred source is a stab in the back of every US industry they once backed.
When they took over, and the cheasy stuff started arriving, I immediately began to shop for better made US products in Target and KMart and have remained a faithful shopper there for years.
I really prefer KMart (bought by SEARS) which features mostly USMade products…like Craftsman, Kenmore, etc. Target has still too much foreign stuff. But it’s still better quality than WalMart’s.
I can’t drive so I have to go where I can get to.
I am concerned about Walmart. Most items they have there are “made in China”. I have looked at an item, like batteries, and seen “made in the USA” at other stores; then seen “made in China” on the same brand at the Walmart’s. Are they selling a lot of fake items?
I think they’re great value for money,on food and clothes. And the New Jersey Wal-Mart i visit,is huge and always has what i’m looking for. Friendly, helpful staff too.
2 years ago,i bought a beautiful cami top from Wal-Mart for $4,and to this day,it’s still one of my favorite items of clothing!
