Student Ambassadors?

I got a letter in the mail saying I was invited to travel and study in Australia and New Zealand next summer. They said I had been nominated and eligible. Does anybody know what this means? It is through people to people. I just want to know how they chose me and if it is a good program. Please help!

My son was nominated as a student ambassador by his 7th grade teacher. He ended up not going because of the cost(about $5,000) and because he just didn’t seem all that interested. His best friend did go to the European People to People trip and he said he had a blast. So, it is a legitimate program. I’m not sure how to find out who nominated you. When I took my son to the initial meeting last year, the organizers were surprised that we knew who nominated him, so I’m assuming it’s not unusual to not know.

Oh my god, I just came back from my trip. I came back on August 6. I was invited on people to people this year and I also went to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji just this summer. It was AMAZING!!!!!! It is a great program and usually they choose you from observing at school and through recomendation. If you have a friend that went on a trip like this you were probably recomended. As an alumni student ambassador, I totally think you should go on it. Because I went to the same exact place and it was AMZING and it is also a once a lifetime chance thatyou should really take.

A teacher at my son’s school nominated certain students. We recently received the Japan letter. Same with a program at John Hopkins. They likely got your name from your school. I know kids who have done the student ambassador program and had a good time and felt it was educational and worthwhile. The price for the trips are reasonable for what they are, but they do cost quite a bit of money. The cost depends on where the trip is to. You can do fundraisers to help raise money for the trip. Local newspapers may be willing to run a story about you trying to participate in the program, to help raise money. I’ve seen articles in local papers. Good luck!
