Steps to solve: 1/3x+1/4=x-1/6?
I’m an Algebra 3-4 students, and I’d just like to know the steps. I can get to:
1/3x+1/4=x-1/6
4/12x+3/12=x-2/12
After this step I get confused. I don’t need the answer, but rather the steps I need to take to solve (this makes me feel less guilty about cheating.) This is review work, which means we didn’t review it in class, and I’m lost. Thanks!

Subtract 4/12x from both sides to get the x’s together and add 2/12 to both sides to get the x’s alone. then divide both sides by whatever number is in front of x.
3/12 + 2/12 = x – 4/12x
5/12 = 12/12x – 4/12x
5/12 = 8/12x
(5/12)/(8/12) = x

a million/3x + a million/4 = x – a million/6 a million/3x + a million/4 + a million/6 = x – a million/6 + a million/6 a million/3x + 3/12 + 2/12 = x a million/3x – a million/3x + 5/12 = x – a million/3x 5/12 = 3/3x – a million/3x 5/12 = 2/3x 5/12 * (3/2) = (3/2) * 2/3x 15/24 = x x = 5/8 (i’ve got assumed that this is (a million/3)x and not a million/(3x) )
