Some English questions….help out please.?

1. “By this time next year Johanna will begin classes at the University of Colorado.”

The correct answer is “will have begun classes” but why cant it be “would have begun classes”?

2. “Nathanael West said that he never have written his satirical novel if he had not visited Hollywood.”

The correct answer is have written his, but doesnt that sound funny? I think the correct answer is “would have written his” but apparantly, the computer graded that wrong. I wonder why.

3.”They read where the governor has appointed a special committee to improve the school calendar. ”

The correct answer is “that of where”. Can it also be ” of where”???Because it was graded wrong but intuitively it sounds correct.

4. “Last summer I worked in the chemical laboratory at the Brass Company; most the work came into the lab for testing marked with the words top priority . ”

That apparantly is already correct, but why is it not ” the words : top priority”???

1. First, “by this time” implies a period in the past, and therefore the perfect aspect “have.” You need “will” — the future — not “would” because it changes the meaning. Using “would” means that something will prevent her from starting classes.

2. I have no idea what you’re asking.

3. “Where” is not right. Neither are your alternatives.

4. Again, you’re not typing coherently. But I think you want a comma after words because the constituent “top priority” is an appositive. It perhaps should be in italics.
