i think we focus too much on the standardized testing. i know they are good, but they have gotten to be the focus in some classrooms. i have heard some teachers who say they are only allowed to teach what is on the test, that it gives the school a better chance at a higher grade. that’s not right!

i also think we spend too much “fluff” time. I think the kids do need a break throughout the day, but my kids are always bringing home some fund raiser.

and don’t get me started on homework. my kindergardener should not need an hour of HOMEWORK every night!

There is no problem with the educational system. The problem are the kids and their parents. The kids are not being held accountable by their parents. There are way too many parents whom are too busy trying to make ends meet to be involved or choose not to be involved with their kids schooling. Now with kids who have learning disabilities, then I say the educational system lacks enough resources to help them to go to the next level unless the parents have the dough to pay for a private school that specializes in this area. I could go on and on, but I’m trying to keep it short.

the fact that LESS than 45% of Florida High School students graduate with a diploma and MORE than 50% of Florida Middle School students DON’T read at their appropriate grade level. plus, more and more monies/funds aren’t being utilized sufficiently to supply books, teachers and other needs to schools across America.

Kids don’t care and neither do the parents….so why should the teachers….everything is too easy…don’t learn pass them anyway….it’s sad the kids get things so easy and don’t try for anything…IT’s the LAZY Generation of just hand it to me cause I deserve it…

TOO MUCH VIDEO GAMES and TV and not enough READING A BOOK

a few geography lessons couldn’t hurt… so that they could at least know what part of the world they are currently deciding to bomb into the stoneage…
