I have a question on what GPA one needs for a good unviersity?

I am a junior in highscool, I have a 5.43 (5.00 is the highest), but if one takes honors or APs it goes higher. I’m also in three clubs and do a lot of comunnity work at my public library and a senior house. I have awards at community service and academics. I was wondering do I have a good chance to go to a good college. Alright thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

Seems like it. I’ve heard colleges look at grades first. But there are also other factors you know, like SAT scores. The only way to find out is to apply.

Sounds like you have a great chance, what you can do is go to websites of colleges you are interested in and look at requirements for acceptance or even call an adviser (numbers will also be on the websites. However, GPA isn’t everything colleges now look a lot at community involvement s good job!

Yes, but the thing it will be most dependent on is your SAT and ACT scores. It also depends on what you consider a “good university.” For most vy league schools you will need an awesome score on those tests to even stand a chance, because pretty much everyone applying has the same basic academic grades in highschool.

Seems like you’ve got a good chance of being accepted to good schools. Keep on working though. Do some extra volunteering in different places. Work on getting more awards. The most important thing, though, is to know how to present all your accomplishments when it comes to filling out your application. Make sure you work on that a LOT!

Yeah, you have a great chance, I go to the University of Michigan and I only had a 3.85 GPA based on a 4.0 scale

depends what university/college you want to go to. How many in-state/out- of state students they take. It’s not all based on merits and GPA. But with those, you should be able to get into a very good one.

You do, remember sat testing is huge, character is huge, and if you know somebody really important that can help. A lot. (Governor, senator, TD Jake’s,Astronaut etc.) They would need to right you a letter attesting to you good character and moral fiber. Now your talking Ivy league.

Kid, with those credentials, you can choose any college you want. Just make your application early. The more important the people who write your letters of recommendation, the better. Try to get your congressman or senator and your mayor to vouch for you.

well its good to have a high GPA but it all comes down to how well you do on your SAT or Acts. Thats how they determine what you really learned in those years of high school. so make sure you do well on those next year. Good luck.
