Help me! I’ve lost all self-discipline!?

I used to be very disciplined. Lately I can’t seem to motivate myself. I waste too much time on the computer and just can’t get going on the stuff I need to do. Part of the problem is the majority of the stuff I need to do is on the computer so I can’t just “turn off the computer.”

I am getting a degree online and at the moment don’t have a job… if that helps.

Any help?

I have a hard time doing work on my computer as well, even simple stuff like checking my bank account. Its more a recreation tool, and I don’t like reading long texts online.

All I can add to the advice above is to maybe go somewhere else you can use a computer, like a library or internet cafe or friend’s place where you don’t associate the computer with goofing off. Also, maybe you are putting too much pressure on yourself to get through the course, as you connect it with the rest of your future. Try relax and find something you like about the course content, print off anything you can read offline and get away from your computer. Good luck.

Well, I am Dually Enrolled in High School and Community College. You just HAVE TO DO IT!!!!!! There is no trick especially since it is online stuff. Pick a time everyday to work on your assignments. If there is a party going on for example Tuesday night and you have stuff due on Wednesday or Thursday…..STAY HOME!!!!!! Your degree is more important than being a Party Animal!!!!! Good luck with your degree and motivations. I understand it is hard because I feel the same. I have to turn down going to the movies, out to eat, etc. with my friends because I have stuff to do. Your friends will understand and if they don’t then they are not your true friends!!!!!! Remember to Smile!!!!!

Put yourself on a study schedule. Work 20 or 30 minutes on your school work and 10 minutes just surfing the web, playing games, etc. The 10 minutes is a reward for the 20 or 30 minutes of work. The greatest reward will be good grades, and a great job in the future. If you don’t follow through, you may find yourself in a very unfulfilling job and regreting your actions later.

don’t put too much pressure on yourself. set a schedule with time for both work and play…for example….tell yourself you will work on the stuff you NEED to do for 1 hour, and after that you can take 20-30 minutes to play on the computer. then work for another hour, etc. if you worry too much or think about ALL you have to do, you will probably get overwhelmed and thus, unmotivated. relax, breathe, and take it one thing at a time. 🙂

I’m going to school online too and don’t have a job. Listen to this music on this website. It will get you going up and down and back into the groove. Let me know if you liked it!!!
