You (and your parents) will need the permission of the district you want to leave, as well as permission of the district where you want to transfer. This permission will be in writing, and is called an inter-district transfer, or out-of-district transfer. Contact your Principal’s office, or your school administration office, and they can guide you. More information for transfer students will be available on your school district’s web site. Look up both districts online since each may have slightly different procedures.
Each school district makes it’s own decisions regarding transfers. The district where you want to go has to have space available. Each decision is made on a case by case basis. Usually, it is not easy to transfer between school districts unless there is a good reason.
The address you use should be one where you live. Children of divorced parents, whose parents live in different districts, may use the address of either parent.
