how to focus better when you’re reading?

i mean for school reading or just reading for fun. whenever i read something, even if its not boring, my mind drifts off. i read a page, but i dont really take it in because i’m thinking about something else. it doesn’t happen constantly, but does anyone have any techniques to concentrate better?

I have that problem all the time… and I’m a reading teacher! My trick is to read aloud to my pets or ‘read aloud in my head’. In other words, I read as if I’m reading to someone else, with all the inflections and emphases in the right places. That helps keep my mind on the subject/story. Then if it’s really complex stuff that I have to remember, I also take notes. Another trick for fiction reading is to ‘predict’ what’s going to happen next in the story. Then you keep reading to see if you were right. Keeps things interesting anyway. Also, cut yourself some slack. Maybe you are thinking about other things because they are important to you or because you don’t have enough relaxation time in your day. Maybe something in the book got you thinking about something in your own life. Making personal connections like that is GREAT! Anyway, I hope this helps. Best of luck to you, reader!

FOR ME IT IS SITTING ALONE. DONT THINK ABOUT HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE OR HOW BORING A BOOK IS. TRY TO KEEP THINGS POSITIVE.

TELL YOURSELF THAT EVERYTHING IS LIGHT READING

TRY YOUR HARDEST TO GET IN TO IT
